I go by Nickk otherwise known as Nickwit2ks. The story behind the name dates back to elementary school. I had a class where there were 4 Nick’s including myself. To separate my name from the others I would add another k at the end of my name to avoid confusion.

The Genre of music that I create is a combination of Hip-hop/Soul. I do a couple different styles of music outside of that but that’s what I would label myself as. Within my music I’m very big on giving the listener an experience where they can not only feel the emotion, but hear it within the song. I love using a variety of instruments within the music I create. Some of my favorite instruments I use in my songs are Saxophones, Guitars, and keyboards.
The inspirations behind my music come from a lot of different places inside and outside of music.

The artists who have inspired me the most would have to be Joey Bada$$ and Arron May. They both have very soulful touches to their music with good blends of melodic and punchy rap. The artists I look up to have spoken messages to people through their music in motivating and uplifting manners. I aspire to be the artist to people who they can look up to for life advice, motivation, guidance and assistance with mental health.

What separates me from other artists is the message behind the music. I’ve took a step into a different direction from where I was when I first started as an artist. The start of my music career began with Flint music which was more of a trending sound I was enjoying at the time. I realized that’s not who I wanna be and what I wanted to make.
I’ve got a gift and a message to send and that required me to dig deeper then I’ve went before. I’ve never been good at expressing my thoughts and feelings but music has taught me how. I use my gift now to separate myself from the rest of artists by providing an outlet for people to look towards for guidance or anything needed really.

My biggest accomplishments in music would defiantly be the amount of shows I’ve done so far in my career. I officially started my career on Sep 9th of 2022 and since that date I’ve done 18 shows 2 of which were opening up for YBN Nahmir and Montana. By month 11 I already had 100K total streams. I’ve hosted 2 shows in the state I was born, one being in my hometown. I love my city the city of cedar rapids Iowa, Since I started making music I’ve always wanted to help other people get started so I opened my home studio to the community. I’ve met a lot of different people who have came and recorded and seen handfuls of talent. Me and a group of artists who aren’t just friends to me but family started a group called 319s finest with the intentions to bring life to the music scene in Iowa, and to create opportunity’s for people who wanna make music. We host these shows not only for the artists for the people. I will be attending the Iowa music awards for a chance to be nominated for hip hop artist of the year on October 29th.

My future plans are always changing, but the things that are set in stone will be the end goal. I want to be enjoying this just as much as I do right now, I want to be able to start a few charities focusing on psychological development and mental health. Hosting shows is still on the agenda I always wanna bring the people an amazing experience and a chance to be safe and uplifted. I hope to still achieve the dream of opening up a shoe store as well as a dispensary. My dreams of being an engineer have started but i cant wait to open up a studio and to be able to teach people the art of making music as a whole.
