What is your name and what city do you rep?

ODELET! Born in Detroit…raised in California. I’d say I rep more of an area than a city, West Coast.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

The Hufflepuff EP and full album Pisces Pie are a paying of homage to old school hip hop beats. I think my vocals get heard as soul/rnb, jazz too. But really, when I’m writing, things just happen. I think over time I put together that the more I can open myself up and step out of the way, the weirder and cooler stuff I can create that will be even more satisfying for me in the process, because I get to surprise myself in a way.

What is unique about you and your music?

Everything.

What shaped your music?

Love.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Probably the first song I wrote, and that probably just got super reinforced the first time I worked in a studio as a solo artist. I’m such a studio rat, I just love it all, I get in the zone and time bends.

What type of music do you listen to?

Everything, ethiojazz, hip hop, classical, trap, rocksteady, fado, rnb, oldies from around the world. Soul.

What inspires you to write music?

My life. I just love creating, I live for it.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I love making things, I love anything and everything that has to do with food, plants, animals, arts and crafts, curating something…

Happiness to you is…

Unconditional.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I think that the movement through each of our own unique life experiences gives way to insights and answers and the clarity we all want. I think it all revolves around the relationship we have with ourself.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

Right now it’s all about the Hufflepuff Ep and Pisces Pie, they’re so fresh. Another album is on deck, I’ll be working on final vocals for that project next.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

All platforms, all the time.

Any last words for the readers?

I want to feed your soul.
