Praise be to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling—a new television series is officially on the way. No, we are not jk-ing. HBO Max is bringing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to television this Christmas, and available for streaming. There are mixed reviews on the concept of bringing the Harry Potter brand to television, but perhaps it is the resistance of taking a classic and making it, well, modern.

The series will introduce the new generation to the Harry Potter saga, as the book-reading era is closing, or rather turning a new page. (We cannot get enough of these puns.) Considering the films could only grasp so much of Rowling’s writings, the series will actually allow the pages to be brought to life, one episode at a time.
