Making his television debut, Jaafar Jackson, lead actor and nephew of the late Michael Jackson appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to introduce himself and the incoming biopic Michael in theaters on April 24th. The Roots band paid tribute to the Jackson dynasty with the instrumentals of “Dancing Machine” by the Jackson 5 echoing through the room as he walked in waving and smiling. (Oh, that Jackson smile.)
Stunning the audiences with his Kody Philips polka dotted white fashion-forward outfit, he touches on his emotional transformation on becoming Michael. “It took me two years to get the part,” he confirms. Jaafar speaks on how surprised he was to know that Graham King secured the rights to make a biopic on Michael Jackson, and wondered who would play him. Unbeknownst to him, Jaafar received a call in 2020, and, well, we know the outcome.
